Why do we so rarely hear about global warming realists who 'walk the walk'?

Because we hear what is in the news and when things are broadly accepted and normal then they are not news. The fact that for huge numbers of people around the world, taking their carbon footprint into account is a growing part of their lives doesn't generate headlines because it is not dramatic and doesn't involve celebrities.
